Welcome on board of our website!

The project Museumsschiff, meaning „museum-ship“ in English or rather Maritime Museum, aims to restore historical boats and keep nautical heritage alive. When Captain Franz Scheriau started this project in 1998, the idea was to create a social centre for marginalized young people. After collaboration with the local government had failed, Scheriau searched for alternative ways to maintain the historical patrimony.
——-Now he offers Danube Tours, a shuttle service to the Danube Island and a visit to his museum-ship Frédéric Mistral to pay for the costs. Nonetheless, the maintenance remains difficult and Scheriau is happy to collaborate with anyone who has new ideas for activities on these vessels. These can range from readings, social, cultural or ecological projects to very manual support as voluntary work like painting the boats. Any help is more than appreciated!

Franz Scheriau lives on MS Arthur and is happy to receive you at any time. If possible, give notice of your visit before you arrive under +43 / 664 3434 082. Many thanks for your interest!
